About Escambia County EMS

Escambia County Emergency Medical Services, a division of the Escambia County Department of Public Safety, is a provider of Critical Care, Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support and Bariatric Transports. EMS provides these services to the over 300,000 residents of Escambia County.

Escambia County offers a unique and dynamic EMS environment, serving more than 50 miles of diverse coastal land that includes vibrant urban centers, rural communities, and a major east–west interstate corridor. Our progressive EMS system operates a modern fleet of more than 50 ambulances and 10 quick-response vehicles, each staffed by our highly trained Paramedic and EMT staff. In addition, our agency maintains specialty response equipment — including UTVs, a deployable field hospital tent, and an AmbuBus — to support large-scale events, disasters, and mass-casualty incidents.

All units are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and mobile data terminals, providing real-time access to dispatch information and GPS routing to ensure rapid, efficient responses and seamless patient care. We pride ourselves on a collaborative, multi-tiered response model that strengthens patient care through close coordination with local fire departments, water safety partners, air medical transport services, military and law enforcement agencies.

Escambia County is supported by three major hospitals, including one Level II and one level I Trauma Center. We have the only level I trauma center in the Panhandle which also serves as the regional Pediatric Trauma Center with specialized fetal-maternal care and level III NICU, ensuring exceptional care for patients of all ages.

This integrated system offers EMS professionals the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, supportive environment while making a meaningful impact across a diverse and growing community.
