1. I share an email address with another person. Is there a way we can both set up an account in your system?
Each user account or profile must have its own email address. You and your friend cannot share accounts or profiles and cannot share email addresses. Most of our communication with job seekers will be by email. Therefore, to apply for a job, access system information and receive notifications, you must each have your own email address.
2. Where can I apply if I don’t have a computer?
Escambia County has a number of computers available for the public's use. There are computers available at all of the Escambia County Public Libraries locations. Find the location closest to you.

3. What is my application status?

4. How often can I apply for a position?
For open continuous positions, once every six months, if not selected for an interview or hire. For open/closing positions, you must apply every time the position opens.
5. Do you I have to complete a new application for every position I apply for?
Once you create a profile, you only have to complete the supplemental questions for the position. However, make sure your work experience is relevant to the position.
6. How long will my name remain on a eligibility list?
Six months for open/continuous positions. For open/closing positions, three to six months, but you must apply each time for the position when it opens.
7. When does my application expires?
If eligible, six months from the date of eligibility.
8. Will I get an interview if I am on the eligible list?
Not all job seekers will be granted an interview. The selection of who will be interviewed is at the discretion of the hiring manager or his/her designee.
9. If I fail the drug test, will I still be hired?
Offers of employment are contingent upon several factors; one of which is successful completion of the pre-employment physical and drug screening. If you do not successfully complete the pre-employment physical or fail the drug screening, the offer of employment will be rescinded and you will not be hired.
In addition to not being hired as planned, prospective employees who test positive for drug use will be barred from applying for employment for a period of one year.
10. What if I have a criminal background, will I still be hired?
The Human Resources department will consider your criminal conduct in determining your suitability for a particular job, but there are no general prohibitions against hiring you. A number of relevant factors, such as the duties of the position you have applied for, the nature of the misconduct, how recent it was, and evidence of rehabilitation, if any, will be considered.
There are some regulations that will prohibit you from working in certain positions if you have a specific conviction in your past. The most common situation involves positions at the County Jail and/or Work Annex. These positions require passing a background screening by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
11. Why can’t I begin working the day after being selected by the department?
HR is required to complete numerous pre-employment checks before allowing an applicant to begin work. These checks protect the health and safety of current employees. Also, there is legal paperwork that must be completed prior to beginning employment.
