Youth Programs
- Afterschool Program
Escambia County afterschool programs provide homework assistance and afterschool activities for school age youth during the school year. Afterschool programs bring a wide range of benefits to youth, families and communities. These programs can boost academic performance, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health and provide a safe, structured environment for youth.
- Summer Camp Program
Escambia County Play Learn Grow Summer Camp provides summer day camp activities focusing primarily on social development, educational enrichment and recreation for Escambia County school age youth. The overall goal of the program is to provide quality programs and youth engagement in a safe and structured environment that stimulates and encourages youth to continue their learning in a fun way throughout the summer.
Funding Assistance Programs
- Human Services Appropriation Agreement
Annually, under agreement with the Escambia Board of County Commissioners, the responsibility of approving requests for funding to local non-profit agencies/organizations is coordinated through United Way's Human Services Appropriations Committee, who is in a consulting role. Persons serving on this committee are Escambia County residents appointed by the commissioners. - Direct Assistance Program
- The Low Income Emergency Assistance Program can provide household assistance to residents who are behind on their rent or mortgage, and have disconnect notices and need assistance with paying for their utilities. The program can also provide needed assistance for prescribed medicine or food. Individuals must meet income guidelines to receive assistance. This is a one-time assistance program. The Direct Assistance program is administered by the EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless.
