The Barrancas Redevelopment District was adopted by the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners in 2002 pursuant to resolution number R2002-88. This district covers an area of approximately 1.1 square miles and abuts the Warrington and Brownsville Redevelopment Districts to the west and north, respectively.
Situated along the shoreline of Bayou Chico and the Barrancas Avenue corridor, Barrancas residents enjoy the community’s unique nautical charm coupled with ease of access to Downtown Pensacola, and the beaches of Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key. This mixed use community is heavily anchored in the abundance of waterfront residential and commercial real estate which exists throughout the area, and features a variety of natural and historical resources which contribute to the area’s sense of “home.”

The Community Redevelopment Agency administers management plans for designated redevelopment districts pursuant to the Community Redevelopment Act of 1969, F.S. Chapter 163. Public meetings dates and documents related to Barrancas Redevelopment Plan developments will be posted to this site as they become available.
The Barrancas Redevelopment District is located within a special zoning section referred to as an “Overlay District”. The Barrancas Overlay District is intended to provide an enhanced level of protection for land uses that are located within the Barrancas Redevelopment District, and to protect the unique environmental resources of Bayou Chico.
