The first sea turtle nests of the season hatched on Pensacola Beach Thursday, July 26.
Biologists reported the two hatched nests early Friday morning. Thursday's full moon provided optimal lighting conditions for the new turtles as they made their way to the Gulf of Mexico.

In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Thursday, July 26 in commission Districts 3, 4 and 5. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

The Escambia County Corrections - Jail Division is hosting a job information fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 27 at the Escambia County Jail located at 2935 N. L St. in Pensacola. The correctional facility is currently accepting applications for corrections officer trainees, certified corrections officers and medical professionals.

Beginning Thursday, July 26 at 7 a.m. Cove Avenue South between Nine Mile Road and Fretz Street will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured along Fowler Avenue and Bowman Avenue. Construction will consist of the upgrading of the existing sewer system to improve the sanitary system.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 28 tons (56,560 pounds) of debris during the Ebonwood Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
