  • Escambia County Assisting with Recovery in Hurricane-Impacted Areas

    Escambia County Public Safety crews and other Escambia County staff members have been assisting with Hurricane Michael recovery efforts in Bay County and surrounding areas, serving at the Bay County Emergency Operations Center and mobilized locations as needed. About 25 county staff are deployed to the area, with assignments ranging from emergency first aid and 911 call response to animal shelter transports and public information support.

    Excelsior Drive will experience short-term lane closures on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Traffic will be detoured along Olive Road to Six Pence Drive detoured around to the north intersection of Pompano Drive and Excelsior Drive.

    Pensacola Beach Road will experience short-term lane closures at the foot of the Bob Sikes Bridge Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m., Pensacola Beach Road between Soundview Trail and the Bob Sikes Bridge will merge into one lane of traffic.

  • Escambia County Helps Transport Hurricane-Impacted Dogs by Plane

    On Thursday morning, Escambia County Animal Services, Friends of the Escambia County Animal Shelter, and the Humane Society of the United States loaded 63 dogs from hurricane-impacted shelters in Bay County onto a Brasilia cargo plane to be transported to a partner shelter in San Diego, where they will be made available for adoption. Thirty additional dogs on board the plane were taken from the Escambia County Animal Shelter in order to make room for additional animal transfers from hurricane-impacted shelters.

  • 911 Service Restored for AT&T Customers

    AT&T service to Escambia County 911 has been restored. Customers can again use their AT&T landline phones to call 911 for emergency services. Service was interrupted earlier this morning for some customers due to an AT&T network outage in the Cantonment area.

Impacted AT&T users who need emergency services such as law enforcement, EMS or fire should call from a mobile device or visit the nearest Escambia County fire station.

An Attorney-Client Session will take place at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Community Redevelopment Agency at 9 a.m. The Board of County Commissioners Agenda Review Session will begin 9:15 a.m. Public Forum will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the Regular Board Meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

    Pensacola Beach Lifeguards have shifted to winter staffing levels as of Sunday, Oct.14, and this week the lifeguard towers will be taken off the beach until the 2019 lifeguard season. Lifeguards will maintain a presence on Pensacola Beach throughout the winter primarily via patrol vehicles, but they will have a presence at the Casino Beach location only after Oct. 14.

    Residents in the Navy Point/Bayou Davenport area will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Wednesday, Oct. 17 during the Navy Point/Bayou Davenport Neighborhood Cleanup in District 2. Only residents in the designated cleanup area are able to participate in the neighborhood cleanup. Items left at the curb outside of the cleanup area will not be collected.
