Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 13, roads in the east Carver Park area, between Washington, Ransom, Booker, Webb, Lincoln and Louis streets will close intermittently for the installation of a new drainage system for the neighborhood. Closures and detours will be on-going and evolving as construction progresses.

Nine Mile Road will be closed at the U.S. 29 overpass in Escambia County from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 and Thursday, Nov. 15 as crews place beams for the new northbound bridge. Eastbound Nine Mile Road traffic will be reduced to one lane, detoured to U.S. 29 South, perform a U-turn at West Hood Drive, and return to Nine Mile Road. Westbound traffic will utilize U.S. 29 North, perform a U-turn at West 9 1/2 Mile Road, and return to Nine Mile Road. Traffic control officers will be on-site to help direct traffic.

On Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7 a.m., the roadway between Warrington Middle School and Coast Road will close to through traffic, and the roadway over the bridge will also be closed. The Olive Road Closure originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 6 will be rescheduled to begin Wednesday, Nov. 7 to accommodate election traffic to local polling stations.

After being destroyed as a result of the April 2014 flooding, Escambia County can now move forward with the demolition and site clearing of the old Central Booking & Detention Facility located on Leonard Street. Slated to begin as soon as Monday, Nov. 5, the project will first include removing material from inside the structure before the actual four-story building and adjacent one-story buildings can be demolished.

The Pensacola Beach Road lane closure originally scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 will now be extended until 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 8 p.m., Pensacola Beach Road between Soundview Trail and the southbound lane of the Bob Sikes Bridge will merge into one lane of traffic.
