Pet Partners: Read With Me

School-aged children are invited to register for a 15-minute session to pick a book and practice reading with a furry friend. Dogs and handlers are coordinated through Pet Partners and Cherry Point Dog Training, Inc. Preregistration is requested.

Read with a Dog

  • Sunday, Feb. 16, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. – Pensacola Library

Come read with a Pet Partners certified therapy dog! Tanner loves to snuggle while listening to kids read him stories. You can schedule a 15-minute time block or just stop by and say hi if he isn’t already engrossed in a book. Chess Club

We will help you learn how to play one of the oldest games in the world. Whether you are a brand new beginner or a master chess player, this is a chance to learn new skills, practice your moves and improve your game in a friendly environment. All playing levels are welcome, including beginners. The library will provide all the chess boards and pieces. 

Open STEAM Lab

Come explore the technology that West Florida Public Libraries owns. Learn to code or use the Silhouette machines. Have a sewing project you would like to work on? We have the machines you need. Perhaps you would like to make a poster with the wide format printer. Drop into the STEAM Lab during our open hours and staff will assist you in getting started with your newest project.

Teen Tuesday: Virtual Reality, Xbox One X, and more Tech!

Jazz it Up with Jewelry! – Family STEAM Night

  • Thursday, Feb. 20, 6 p.m. – Pensacola Library

Would you like to learn how to make jewelry? Come join us every third Thursday of the month for Family STEAM Night “Jazz it up with Jewelry” and learn basic beginning jewelry making. We will make bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and more. Each session we will offer a new project to delight all ages and cover topics such as beading, wire wrapping, and plaiting / knotting techniques. All materials provided by the library.

Saturday STEAM - Snap Circuits for Kids

Snap Circuits is an educational toy that teaches electronics with solderless snap-together electronic components. Each component has the schematic symbol and a label printed on its plastic case that is color coded for easy identification. They snap together with ordinary clothing snaps.

Family STEAM Night: Celebrate Harry Potter Night

  • Thursday, Feb. 27, 6 p.m. – Pensacola Library

Are you ready to celebrate the Triwizard Tournament? Come celebrate Harry Potter Night. We will have Harry Potter themed activities and even learn to code with a Harry Potter wand. No coding experience needed. Beginners are welcome. The library will provide all supplies needed.

We are going to create giant Valentine cards for our hero’s in the local Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department. If you have something special that you would like to attach, please bring it so that we can include it on the card. Molino Melodies

Uke’n’Play

Tryon Tuesday: Movie Night for the Family – "Dora and the Lost City of Gold" (2019)

Mini Yogi Bears

Introduce your child to yoga to kick-start a healthy lifestyle and mindful habits. Kids will move in a creative, fun flow inspired by animals from lions and tigers to bears. The class is open to children. Mats will be available for use.

Chair Yoga

Want to try yoga? Ease into it with gentle chair yoga; Ideal for seniors and those who have difficulty arising from the floor as well as office workers who sit for hours in a chair. Local patron will guide you through the basics of chair yoga: gentle stretches seated in a chair and also standing postures. Sponsored by The Friends of Southwest Branch Library.

Yoga is a mental and physical practice that allows us to connect with ourselves and balance our health and well-being. During this class, students will be immersed into a beginner flow focusing on the basics of meditation and yoga. The class is open to all ages and mats will be available for use.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation help to anyone. There’s no fee and no sales pitch for other services. AARP membership is not required. Representatives will be at Pensacola Library to provide this service on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4 through April 13, Southwest Branch Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. through April 15, and Molino Branch Library Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. through Wednesday, April 15. The last person is accepted at 1 p.m. The program is jointly sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Citizens should bring a photo I.D., Social Security cards or other official documentation for everyone on the return, including taxpayers and dependents. Please bring all tax forms for the current tax year, including W-2’s, 1099’s and social security benefit statements. Bring a copy of last year’s tax return and associated forms. If you are filing a joint return, we will need to see both taxpayers.

Earn your GED at the Molino Community Center. This is an open enrollment program so that students may enroll anytime during the semester. A current TABE test is required to enroll for the classes. Grafting with the Pensacola Camellia Club

Ever wondered how gardeners are able to take a branch from one plant and coax it to grow on another? This is your weekend to find out how it’s done! Join us as we welcome the Pensacola Camellia Club to show us how grafting works and they create such beautiful plants. Materials will be provided.

Come join us as the Master Gardener Volunteer Organization teaches participants the benefits and proper way of pruning trees, bushes and foliage. Learn why pruning is a necessary step in maintaining a healthy and flourishing garden and landscape.

Council on Aging

Council on Aging of West Florida presents a thoughtful presentation on social services and opportunities available to elder adults in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. With a charge from the State of Florida to keep seniors at home, with independence and dignity for as long as possible, Council on Aging works to provide comfort and care in home, eliminating the need for long-term nursing home placement and expensive personal care. If you are aging and need help, or are a caregiver for an aging older adult, we want you to receive every service you’re entitled to.

Learn to Use your Electric Pressure Cooker

Center for Independent Living

Come in and learn more about the programs and services offered by the CIL Disability Resource Center, Inc., offered to people with all types of disabilities in the area. CIL services include, but are not limited to, community services information and referral for people with disabilities, free telephone program for deaf/hard of hearing, assistive technology program referrals and assistance featuring ramps, home modifications, equipment and devices for disabled persons, community advocacy and peer counseling, social and recreational activities.

West Florida Genealogical Society Program and Meeting

If you recently purchased a Smart Phone, or just want to get to know yours a little better, this workshop will assist you in feeling more comfortable with the basic functions of your device. Bring your own smart phone.
