Community Plant Clinic

  • Saturday, Oct. 12, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., Greater Mount Lilly Baptist Church, 619 Gadsden St., Pensacola

Master Gardeners will have a demonstration on starting cool season edibles in containers and be available to answer your lawn and garden questions. Information also on preparing the landscape for winter.

Garden to Table Exposition

  • Saturday, Oct. 26, 8 a.m. - noon, Escambia County Extension, 3740 Stefani Road, Cantonment

Information and demonstration on bringing the autumn harvest to the table. Additional information and demonstrations will be provided by the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority, the EscaRosa Beekeepers, The Ever’man Cooperative and Mr. J.E. Blum, a local poultry expert.

The Great Bio Scavenger Hunt Training Workshop – Navarre Beach Marine Science Station

  • Monday, Sept. 30, 5:30 p.m., 8638 Blue Heron Circuit, Navarre Beach

Join Escambia and Santa Rosa County Extension to learn how to participate in our inaugural Bio Scavenger Hunt. This family fun project will have volunteers search for specific plants and animals in our estuarine system. There will be a training on how to conduct this survey. This workshop is FREE. You can contact the Escambia County Extension office for the registration link.

Science Hour – Harmful Algal Blooms

This month we will hear from Dr. Matt Schwartz from the University of West Florida on this ever-increasing concern.

The Inaugural Pensacola-Perdido Bay Estuary Program Bio Scavenger Hunt

  • Oct.13 - 19

Volunteer individuals and families will be asked to conduct a minimum of a 30-minute survey in one of four estuarine habitats searching for selected coastal plants and animals of interest to the estuarine management community. The four habitats will include beach & dunes, salt marshes, seagrasses, and hardened structures (such as seawall, piers, and jetties). Click here for information on trainings, paperwork, and more.

Seafood @ Your Fingertips

  • Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6 p.m., Pensacola Library meeting room B, 239 N. Spring St.

Join Escambia County Extension, Florida Sea Grant, and Perdido Bay Seafood for a presentation on local seafood. The program will discuss how to seasonality, purchasing, and preparation of local seafood species. This event is FREE.

Invasive Species

  • Tuesday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m., Southwest Branch Library, 12248 Gulf Beach Highway

Join Sea Grant in a discussion of local invasive species issues and possible solutions. This event is FREE.

Strengthening Resilience through Community-Based Planning

  • Thursday, Oct. 3, 6 p.m. - 7 p.m., Sanders Beach Community Center, 913 S. "I" St.
Meet with local faculty from the University of Florida to discuss local flooding concerns and how they might be addressed using field research and green infrastructure methods. Contact Dr. Matt Deitch at [email protected] for more information. It is FREE to register.

Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Training

  • Wednesday, Oct. 16, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Santa Rosa County Extension, 6263 Dogwood Drive, Milton
