Work activities are scheduled to begin the week of Monday, Oct. 7 on State Road 4 from the Escambia River Bridge to County Road 87A (Market Road) in the town of Jay. The $4.3 million transportation project will include milling and resurfacing the roadway, pedestrian safety improvements along sidewalk facilities, guardrail upgrades at the Escambia River bridge, expansion joint replacement on the West Coldwater Creek bridge, and the replacement of the waterline from east of State Street to Magnolia Street in Jay.
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts during construction. The project is anticipated to be complete summer 2020.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling in a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
