In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Thursday, Aug. 23 in Commission District 2. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold two budget hearings to discuss approving the proposed Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget. The first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 5:31 p.m. and the second Monday, Sept. 17 at 5:31 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building.

Residents in the Brownsville area will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Wednesday, Sept. 19 during the Brownsville Northwest Neighborhood Cleanup in District 3. Only residents in the designated cleanup area are able to participate in the neighborhood cleanup. Items left at the curb outside of the cleanup area will not be collected.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 44 tons (88,920 pounds) of debris during the Aug. 15 Brownsville/Englewood Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

The Escambia County Waste Services Department will host the next Regional Roundup on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. until noon at Washington High School, 6000 College Parkway. Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.
