It's the perfect time of the year to adopt a friend from the Escambia County Animal Shelter. The Escambia County Animal Shelter is offering a special reduced adoption fee of $50 for all dogs and puppies and $20 for all cats and kittens during the month of December. Adoption fees include altering of the animal (spay or neutering services), microchip, heart worm test, and the initial vaccinations, including rabies vaccinations.

The Escambia County Area Transit Authority meeting will begin at 9 a.m., and the BCC Agenda Review Session is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. Public Forum will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the BCC Regular Meeting at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, found on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

The northbound U.S. 29 off-ramp onto Nine Mile Road in Escambia County will be closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 to 6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 as crews place drainage pipes across the roadway in association with the U.S. 29 widening project. Northbound local traffic may use W. Hood Drive as an alternate route or perform a U-turn at 9 ½ Mile Road.
