    In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Monday, Oct. 1 in Commission Districts 1 and 2. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

    It's the perfect time of the year to adopt a canine friend from the Escambia County Animal Shelter. In celebration of National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, the Escambia County Animal Shelter is offering a special reduced adoption fee of $50 for all dogs and puppies and $20 for all cats and kittens during the month of October.

  • EPA Approves $292 Million RESTORE Expenditure Plan

    On Thursday, Sept. 27, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency signed an approval letter to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, approving the 2017 Florida State Expenditure Plan which will direct $292 million in Component 3 RESTORE Act funds to 69 diverse environmental and economic projects and programs in 23 Florida Gulf of Mexico counties.

  • UPDATE: Beulah Road Closure Rescheduled for Sunday

    The intersection of Beulah Road and West Nine Mile Road will experience a night detour and closure from Sunday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m until Monday, Oct. 1 at 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured from West Nine Mile Road to Rebel Road onto Beulah Church Road. The road closure is expected to remain in effect for approximately one day. Every effort will be made to expedite construction to reopen the road before Monday, Oct. 1 at 6 a.m.

  • Crescent Lake Neighborhood Cleanup Scheduled for Oct. 3

    Residents in the Crescent Lake area will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Wednesday, Oct. 3 during the Crescent Lake Neighborhood Cleanup in District 1. Only residents in the designated cleanup area are able to participate in the neighborhood cleanup. Items left at the curb outside of the cleanup area will not be collected. The general cleanup area is south of East Shore Drive, north of Michigan Avenue, east of Crescent Lake and west of Empire Drive.

  • Brownsville Northwest Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 29 Tons of Debris

    Escambia County collected and disposed of approximately 30 tons (57,960 pounds) of debris during the Sept. 19 Brownsville Northwest Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
