Escambia County’s Natural Resources Conservation Division is preparing for a prescribed burn and ecosystem management of approximately 65 acres in the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve. The burn is anticipated to take place between Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21 in the area north of Jones Creek between Gulf Beach Highway, U.S. south of Highway 98 and west of Fairfield Drive.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 42 tons (85,100 pounds) of debris during the March 13 Brentwood Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

Erosion threatens infrastructure and public access at several locations along the Navy Point Park shoreline. Escambia County Natural Resources Management and Parks & Recreation Departments are working to resolve erosion by establishing "living shorelines" at critically eroded locations and by renourishing beach areas.
