According to the National Hurricane Center, there is a high chance of 90L developing into a subtropical or tropical depression in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico this weekend. However, it is still too early to determine what direct impacts the system might have on Escambia County and Northwest Florida, but heavy rain and dangerous rip currents are expected. Escambia County Emergency Management is closely monitoring this system, and staff are on call to respond as needed. Residents are urged to do the same by monitoring our local media for the most up-to-date forecasts several times a day.

Escambia County Emergency Management has launched a new "Know Your Zone" website for residents to look up their hurricane evacuation zone and storm surge impacts, just in time for the 2018 hurricane season. The new evacuation lookup tool is mobile responsive, features an improved address search tool and clearly shows residents the impact of storm surge simulations for each level of possible called evacuations.

Escambia County Emergency Medical Services has joined more than 2,800 communities nationwide to launch the PulsePoint mobile app in Escambia County, a lifesaving app that alerts CPR-trained citizens when someone in a nearby public place suffers sudden cardiac arrest.

The Escambia County Waste Services Department will host the next Regional Roundup on Saturday, June 9 from 8 a.m. until noon across from the Naval Hospital located at 6000 W. Highway 98. Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.
