  • Cove Avenue Lane Closure

    Beginning Thursday, July 12 at 7 a.m. Cove Avenue between Nine Mile Road and Fretz Street will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured along Fowler Avenue and Bowman Avenue. Construction will consist of the upgrading of the existing sewer system to improve the sanitary system.

    In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Monday, July 9 in commission District 4. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

  • Pensacola Bay Bridge Construction Reaches Milestone

    The Pensacola Bay Bridge replacement project reached a construction milestone this past week as crews drove the final concrete piling for the new eastbound (Pensacola to Gulf Breeze) bridge. The 1,062 piles for the eastbound bridge range in length from 120 to 210 feet and weigh as much as 190,000 pounds. Crews have driven the piles to depths averaging 80 to 100 feet into the bay floor.

  • Invasive Aquatic Plant Species Confirmed in Bayou Chico; FWC Begins Treatment

    An invasive aquatic plant species, Giant salvinia, has been found in parts of Bayou Chico, one of only five locations throughout the state where the South American species has been positively identified. Confirmation of the floating species was made by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on June 12.

    The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting concerning proposed improvements to State Road (S.R.) 173 (South Blue Angel Parkway) from S.R. 292 (Sorrento Road) to S.R. 30 (U.S. 98) Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Church Blue Angel Campus, 2221 South Blue Angel Parkway, Pensacola.

  • Bob Sikes Bridge Toll Plaza Lane 4 Closed Today

    Lane 4 of the Bob Sikes Bridge Toll Plaza entering Pensacola Beach will be temporarily closed today to replace an air conditioning unit inside the toll booth. The lane will be reopened no later than 9 a.m. Friday, July 6. Other tolling lanes will remain open throughout the day. No lanes on the Bob Sikes Bridge or past the toll plaza will be closed.

    Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities. There will be no lane closures on state roads from 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 through 5:59 p.m. Thursday, July 5. These lane closure restrictions include both construction and maintenance activities.

    The Florida Department of Transportation began converting to a new Centralized Customer Service System for SunPass customers on June 1. The Pensacola Beach Annual Pass is linked with SunPass to provide access over the Bob Sikes Bridge. At this time, customers are unable to register new Pensacola Beach Annual Passes.
