The Escambia County Waste Services Department will host the next Regional Roundup on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. until noon in the north parking lot of Pensacola High School, located at 500 W. Maxwell St. Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 59 tons (119,240 pounds) of debris during the April 18 Brownsville Northeast Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

Several homes in the 3800 block of Crabtree Church Road in Molino were damaged today by a suspected tornado. Escambia Fire Rescue and Emergency Management crews responded and found approximately five structures incurred slight to moderate damage. Several downed trees and power lines were also found in the area.

Russell "Rusty" Nail has been selected as the new Escambia County Fire Chief, responsible for supervising all Escambia County Fire Rescue staff. Nail's target start date is Monday, May 7. He joins Escambia County with over 26 years of experience as an accomplished chief fire officer.
