Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 23 tons (46,740 pounds) of debris during the June 13 Mayfair North Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

At the Thursday, June 21 Escambia County Regular Commission Meeting, the board recognized the 1955 Pensacola Jaycees Baseball Team for their peaceful and heroic contribution to the civil rights movement. The group of 12-year-old boys and their families risked social, physical and economic repercussions for playing the first game of integrated Little League baseball in the south against the all-white team the Orlando Kiwanis.

In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Wednesday, June 20 in commission districts 3 and 4. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.
