Escambia County Community Centers will be closed Monday, Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents Day.

Brownsville Community Resource Center
3200 W. De Soto St., Pensacola

  • Play, Learn, Grow After School Program: Mondays-Fridays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. The Play, Learn, Grow after school program is open to students in grades K-12, with educational and recreational activities throughout the school year.   • S.N.A.P. Stop Now and Plan: SNAP is a free, evidenced-based program for boys and girls ages 6-11 with behavioral problems, along with their families (parent/guardian). Kids and parents will be learning how to use SNAP in different situations through engaging activities, role play and discussions. SNAP covers a variety of topics including dealing with angry thoughts, self control and problem solving. Free food. Contact: 850-453-2772 
  • CEII Home Ownership & Business Home Ownership Education Class: U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development certified Pre Home ownership Education Course, required by lenders and down payment assistance. Free class. 
  • Business Ownership Training: CEII’s Entrepreneur 1.0 course is designed to for individuals seeking to start a business. The course offers insight on what it takes makes run a successful business and how to get started. CEII Entrepreneur 3.0 is an eight-week program that equips aspiring entrepreneurs with an overview of the tools to turn a business concept into action. Covers topics such as organization types, time management, financial management, record keeping, banking services, risk management, insurance, marketing and tax planning. Contact: Grover Brown 850-595-6234, ext. 203
  • 2Wins - To WORK, IMPROVE, and SUCCEED: Help young adults to reach their full potential in obtaining their personal and professional goals, to build a community of intelligent and conscience young adults. Contact: Jermaine Tart, 850-292-9725 or 850-791-8691 
    •  Athletic training: Platform to equip young adults with the essential life skills required for physical and mental development
    • Common Sense-uations: Gives young adults an opportunity where they can freely express their opinions on everyday issues.
    • Chess: Helps young adults develop/ expand critical thinking skills.  
  • Mardi (Party) Gras: Free event for seniors 50+. Friday, Feb 15 at 11 a.m. Hosted by Escambia County and the city of Pensacola. Come and enjoy Mardi Gras! The event will feature Mardi Gras krewes, community resources, health screenings, live music, king cake, red beans and rice, and door prizes. Contact: Brownsville Community Center, 850-426-1622 
  • Black History Month events
    • African-American History of Pensacola: Free event for seniors 50+. Friday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. Hosted by Escambia County and the city of Pensacola. Come enjoy art and music while learning about African-American history in Pensacola. Contact:  Brownsville Community Center, 850-426-1622 
    • A Tribute to Maya Angelou: Free community event. Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment, music, dancing, poems, free food and more. Contact:  Brownsville Community Center, 850-426-1622

Ebonwood Community Center

  • The Youth Connection After School Program: Mondays-Fridays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. The Youth Connection provides youth ages 6-18 the opportunity to participate in educational, cultural, sports, and community enrichment programs; to build confidence and self-esteem; to encourage our youth to say "NO" to gangs, drugs, and violence; and "YES" to hope, learning and life. Registration: Mondays-Fridays, 3-5 p.m. at the Ebonwood Community Center. For more information, contact Community Center Coordinator Leroy Williams at 850-426-1156.

  • Englewood Neighborhood Association monthly meeting: Every third Tuesday at 6 p.m. 

Felix Miga/Wesco Senior Citizens Center

  • Bunco Games: Mondays and Fridays from 9:30-11 a.m. Free for members; $2 requested for nonmembers.
  • Chair Exercise: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30-9 a.m. Members only.  
  • Tai Chi Classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-10 a.m. Free for members; $3 requested for nonmembers.
  • Hand and Foot Card Games: Tuesdays at 9 a.m. Members only.
  • Bingo: Wednesdays from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Members and guest. Bring lunch for fellowship at 11 a.m., bingo games begin at 12:30 p.m. Free coffee and sodas while playing bingo.
  • Pinochle Games: Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. Members only.
  • Bridge Games: Wednesdays at 11 a.m. Members only.
  • Line Dance Class: Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. Beginners class is from noon to 12:30 p.m. and regular class is from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Free for members; $3 donation requested for nonmembers.
  • Bunco Games: Mondays and Fridays from 9:30-11 a.m. Members and guest. $2 donation requested from members, or a $3 donation from nonmembers. 
  • Neighborhood Watch Program: Thursday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Open to members and the public. Includes guest speakers and information about crime in Myrtle Grove and surrounding areas.
  • Monthly Board Meeting: Thursday, Feb. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Senior Night Out: First, third and fourth Fridays of each month from 6-9 p.m. Members and guests. Free coffee, dancing, fellowship and entertainment by Curtis Hall and the Wesco Stage Band. The fourth Friday is James Thompson and the Country Classics Band. Attendees may bring a snack to share with others.
  • Monthly Luncheon: Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. Covered dish provided by membership; $5 suggested donation from guests. 
  • Thrift store open Tuesday-Thursday from 8:30-11 a.m. Third Thursday of the month is dollar bag sale day (Includes purses, clothing and shoes. Items cannot exceed the top of the bag). Contact: Lois Lindt, 850-453-7431
  • Library Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. Members only. The library is now closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
