The East Johnson Avenue lane closure and detour that began on Sunday, March 31 and was originally scheduled to end on Tuesday, April 30 has been extended until Friday, May 31, due to underground utility conflicts and weather delays.
Traffic will be detoured from East Johnson Avenue to Olympia Road, to Bixby Circle, onto Winding Lane and then back to Scenic Highway. Westbound traffic will be detoured from Olive Road to Davis Highway, with access to East Johnson Avenue.
Upon completion of the work, Johnson Avenue will have a new alignment connection to Olive Road through stop signs at Harbour Square Drive and Johnson Avenue. This will include new pavement, sidewalks, traffic loops and new pavement markings for a stop sign controlled intersection as part of the Olive Road Multi-Lane Reconstruction and Drainage Project Phase 2. Additional upgrades will include the installation of a new traffic signal mast arm this summer.
The road closure is expected to remain in effect for 30 days, and every effort will be made to expedite construction efforts in order to reopen the road on or before Friday, May 31. If other lane or roadway closures are necessary beyond the anticipated time period, another notice will be issued.
