    Nine Mile Road between Cove Avenue and Ashland Avenue is currently closed due to a construction related break in a natural gas line. Pensacola Energy has secured the leak, but it is estimated that the road will remain closed in both directions until 12:30 p.m. The public is asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes to their destinations.

    Today, Sept. 5, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Gulf of Mexico Program awarded the Bay Area Resource Council a $2 million cooperative agreement to establish the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program. The project is the result of several years of collaboration and is the first Estuary Program in Northwest Florida.

    The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Escambia County until 7 p.m. today. According to NWS, radar indicated thunderstorms will produce heavy rain across the warned area throughout the day. Up to 10 inches of rain has already fallen between Tuesday and today, and flash flood conditions are expected to continue. Some areas may see a two-day total of over 15 inches of rainfall.

The meeting will now be held Monday, Sept. 10 at 5:01 p.m. in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, found on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.
