HACCP Training
- June 5-6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 207 E. Main St., Pensacola
This training session will allow attendees to create, or update their current HACCP safety plan. It is open to all seafood processors and harvesters and is also open to seafood retailers. The cost of the session is $150, which includes all training materials, the new FDA Hazards Guide, training facilities, trainers, and the recorded and issued AFDO Certificate for HACCP Training mailed to participants that complete the course. Check‐in begins at 7:30 am. and class begins at 8 a.m. Registration information can be found here.

This one-day training requires participants to have completed the online course prior to attending. This class is appropriate for seafood processors who have a current HACCP plan and would like to learn about updates they can make to their plan. The Goliath Grouper Count
- Friday, June 7 through Monday, June 17, Pensacola
This is a Florida Sea Grant citizen science project targeting local divers who frequent the same locations for their dives. Sea Grant is interested in the number, location and size of goliath grouper in our area. If any diver is interested in participating, they should contact Escambia Sea Grant Agent, Rick O’Connor at 850-475-5230 ext. 111 or a Roc1@ufl.edu.
Gardening with Heat: Growing Peppers in Containers

Escambia Extension will teach about different peppers you may try and how to successfully grow productive tomatoes in containers.
Science Hour
- Thursday, June 13, 6 p.m., Aquatic Preserve and Restoration Program, 3363 West Park Place, Pensacola
Overview of what Aquatic Preserve and Restoration Program does which will include a discussion on restoration, management and monitoring. The session will also go over what the APRP does under the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection.
Stormwater Management in a Changing Florida Panhandle

This presentation will discuss the overall health of the bay system and what residents and businesses can do to help improve it.
Managing Local Invasive Species

This one-hour public presentation by Sea Grant Agent Rick O’Connor will address some of our local invasive species issues and solutions.
