The project to upgrade the SunPass and cash lanes of the Bob Sikes Bridge Toll Plaza to Pensacola Beach is underway. The project, which consisted of modifying the four toll lanes, is expected to improve Pensacola Beach traffic flow.
New signage and road striping notify the public that the two far left lanes now accept both cash and SunPass/Annual Pass, and the far two right lanes are the dedicated SunPass/Annual Pass lanes, with no cash accepted. The toll remains $1, cash or SunPass. All four toll lanes still accept SunPass/Annual Pass.
Drivers who don't notice the change shouldn't worry if they accidentally arrive at a no cash lane. Simply drive through the SunPass/Annual Pass lane without a pass, and the owner of the vehicle will receive a bill in the mail through the toll by plate system. Your trip will be charged $1 each trip, plus a $2.50 monthly administration service fee. The SunPass lanes can also use the Georgia and North Caroline toll transponders.
