District 1 Commissioner Jeff Bergosh will hold a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Myrtle Grove Elementary School located at 6115 Lillian Highway. Residents are invited to discuss issues with Commissioner Bergosh at the fifth of six town hall-style meetings planned for the year at various locations throughout District 1.

Evacuations are ordered in Escambia County for Zones A and B beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. In Escambia County, we do not use the terms “voluntary” or “mandatory” with regard to evacuations. When evacuation orders are given, residents and visitors are expected to comply.

TS Nate is forecast to reach the northern Gulf Coast this weekend as a hurricane, and the threat of direct impacts from wind, storm surge, and heavy rainfall is increasing from Louisiana through the Florida Panhandle. A hurricane watch and storm surge watch will likely be issued for portions of the northern Gulf Coast tonight or Friday morning.

The National Hurricane Center is now issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Nate, located over northeastern Nicaragua and moving north toward the Gulf of Mexico. Escambia County Emergency Management is closely monitoring this system and participating in conference calls with the National Weather Service and State Emergency Operations Center.
