  • Myrtle Grove Southeast Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 40 Tons of Debris

    Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 40 tons (80,600 pounds) of debris during the Sept. 20 Myrtle Grove Southeast Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

    The Florida Department of Transportation has closed the bridge on Arthur Brown Road (CR99A) over Boggy Creek immediately until further notice due to a failed inspection. Escambia County received notice from FDOT late Wednesday, Sept. 20. As the notice was just received, no opening date has yet been projected.

    The closure of Stefani Road between Nine Mile Road and 9 1/2 Mile Road in Cantonment has been postponed. The segment will now experience closures and detours beginning Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 a.m. Construction will consist of the installation of a sanitary sewer manhole.

  • Broad Street Closed for Weekend Drainage Work

    Due to recent inclement weather conditions and Hurricane Irma, drainage work scheduled to take place earlier this month was rescheduled. Broad Street will be closed on the west side of the U.S. 29 intersection in Escambia County from 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 through 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 as crews place new drainage. Detroit Boulevard and Untreiner Avenue will be utilized as alternate routes.
