Feb. 13 Public Workshop for I-10 at U.S. 29 Noise Barrier Wall

Published Feb 9, 2018

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public workshop for proposed noise barrier wall improvements to State Road (S.R.) 8 / Interstate 10 (I-10) at S.R. 95 (U.S. 29) in Escambia County Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CST at the Marie K. Young Wedgewood Community Center, 6405 Wagner Road, Pensacola.

FDOT has prepared a traffic noise evaluation and determined locations for potential noise barrier walls. If constructed, the noise barrier walls would be similar in appearance to other noise barrier walls along I-10.

Four noise barrier locations are proposed:

• Noise Barrier BA is proposed on the north side of I-10 (Hope Manor neighborhood) at 8-feet high, 400-feet long;

• Noise Barrier BB is proposed on the north side of I-10 (Oak Forest / Lost Creek neighborhoods) at 18-feet high, 2,689-feet long;

• Noise Barrier DB East is proposed on the south side of I-10 (Robins Ridge neighborhood) at 18-feet high, 2,243-feet long; and

• Noise Barrier DB West is proposed on the south side of I-10 (Willow Tree Acres neighborhood) at 18-feet high, 1,240-feet long.

The project is funded for right-of-way acquisition in Fiscal Year 2021-22, and for construction in Fiscal Year 2023.

The workshop will be held in an open-house format, there will be no formal presentation. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments. Maps, drawings, and other information will be on display.

This workshop is being held without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.  Persons who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Eric Saggars, P.E., FDOT Project Manager, (850) 415-9001or via email at esaggars@hntb.com at least seven days prior to the workshop.
