The Baldrige Group has announced that Escambia County Emergency Medical Services is in the top three EMS agencies to achieve excellence in customer engagement and satisfaction in 2016, with Escambia County EMS earning an overall satisfaction score of 98 percent.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 39 tons (79,460 pounds) of debris during the Feb. 15 Myrtle Grove Northwest Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

Escambia County has mobilized work crews from Waste Services, Public Safety and the Road Department to address the ongoing fire at the Rolling Hills Landfill. The county successfully worked through issues with the property owner, South Palafox Properties, and at approximately 12:30 this afternoon entered the landfill. Crews will be on scene daily until sunset until the fire is extinguished.

After several weeks of renovations, Perdido Kids Park will reopen to the public Saturday, Feb. 18 with new amenities and improvements for the community to enjoy. The park, located at 10004 Gulf Beach Highway, is open daily from sunrise to sunset and is free to the public.

Escambia County Waste Services, Environmental Code Enforcement, Public Safety, Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service are responding to a fire at the Rolling Hills Landfill located.The fire is not in the C&D area of the landfill currently being remediated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The fire appears to be contained. It currently poses no risk to surrounding homes beyond the nuisance smoke.
