Civitan Park, located at 404 S. 2nd St., has reopened after the completion of a new walking track and sidewalk enhancements. Construction included a quarter-mile asphalt walking track along with enhancements to the park's sidewalk connectivity and aesthetics.

Mills Avenue between Gulf Beach Highway and North Street will experience intermittent lane closures beginning Thursday, June 22 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The roadway will be reduced to one lane while construction material and equipment are unloaded.

On Tuesday, May 30 the Escambia County Marine Resources Division managed the deployment of 26 concrete artificial reef modules by ReefMaker LLC out of Orange Beach, Alabama. The reef modules are 8 feet tall and weigh 5,000 pounds.

An inmate at the Escambia County Main Jail died at the facility Sunday, June 11. The 51-year-old male from Mobile, Alabama, was pronounced dead at 12:58 p.m. by EMS staff. Jail Medical Director and Certifying Physician Dr. Paul Henning stated the manner of death was natural causes.
