Popular Literary Book Club Skype Event
Join us for discussion of “Girl Waits with Gun.” The novel is the first in a historic fiction series by New York Times best-selling author Amy Stewart. Join us as we discuss this novel based on the forgotten true story of one of the nation’s first female deputy sheriffs. Author Amy Stewart will Skype in for the book discussion.

Molino Book Club
Join your friends at the Molino Book Group for a lively discussion of “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. Pet Partners: Read With Me™
School-aged children are invited to register for a 15-minute session to pick a book and practice reading with a furry friend. Dogs and handlers are coordinated through Pet Partners and Cherry Point Dog Training, Inc. Preregistration is requested.

Open STEAM Lab – Pensacola Library
Would you like to explore some of the robots and other technology tools that West Florida Public Libraries owns? Would you like to become trained to use the machines in the Technology Lab? Drop into the STEAM Lab during our open hours and staff will assist you in getting started with robotics, virtual reality or the Silhouette machines.
STEAM at Tryon Branch Library - Kids
Come build using Lego® bricks and Cubelets®. What are Cubelets®? They are robot blocks that join together magnetically to work as a team. Each Cubelet® is about an inch-and-a-half across and connects face-to-face with other Cubelets®. Combine them in different ways and with Lego® bricks, they make your creation move! Duplo® bricks will be available for the little ones.
STEAM at Tryon Branch Library – Adults – Green Screen
Come learn how to digitally swap out backgrounds in video and images, just like meteorologists do on TV. We’ll be using green screen technology to put still and video images together in new and different ways. Beginners welcome.
Lego® night – Pensacola Library
Visit the craft room to create with Lego®. There will be building challenges and open play. Best enjoyed by ages 2 and up; parent or caregiver must be present.
YouTube Class – Pensacola Library
Come learn how to create and manage a YouTube Channel. We will cover everything from building a basic channel to managing a large-scale channel with playlists. The class will cover basic analytics, tagging, and end screen cards and prompts of your videos. Basic computer skills are a prerequisite. Computers available on site but feel free to bring your laptop.
Quilting Class – Pensacola Library
Come learn to quilt. We will be creating large-block patchwork quilt tops using 9-inch squares. Please bring 10 fat quarters of coordinating fabrics (or yardage) to produce a quilt center 43 x 68 inches. The library has all the cutting supplies and machines, but feel free to bring your own machine.
Family STEAM Night – Cubelets® – Pensacola Library
What's a Cubelet®? Cubelets® are robot blocks that combine to work together in a team. Each Cubelet® is about an inch-and-a-half across, and magnetically connects face-to-face with other Cubelets®. Combine them in different ways, and they'll do different things. Combine them with Lego®, and they’ll do lots of different things. For ages 4 and up. Looking for a challenge? Set your Cubelet® robot against a competitor in a contest of battlebots, and see which emerges as the evening’s champion.

Stop Motion with STEAM – Animation Workshop
We've got the tools, you've got the talent, so come learn how to make a stop-action video with us. We'll have recording equipment and toys, but if you want to bring your own poseable action figure, go for it.
Family STEAM Night – Oobleck!
We will read Dr. Seuss’ “Bartholomew and the Oobleck” and then use cornstarch and water to make batches of a non-newtonian fluid commonly referred to as “oobleck." What’s *that*? What is “oobleck?" Dr. Seuss knew, and now you can, too! What’s that you say? You already know? Well, come on and show us! Let’s give it a go!

The library provides the Lego® bricks, you just need to bring your imagination. Duplo® bricks will be available for the little ones.
Sparki Robotics Club
Come learn Sparkiduino, a simplified version of C/C++, to program Sparki, an adorable Arduino robot. Sparki can be programmed to follow lines, solve mazes, avoid walls and edges and draw shapes. This ongoing workshop is intended for ages 9 and up.

Twitch Class – Pensacola Library
Come learn how to create and manage a Twitch Channel. We will cover building a channel. How to stream your video and what options support overlays and extensions. We will cover how to incorporate stream extensions and how to set them up. The class will teach you how incorporate the green screens and Chroma keys to make you look like a professional. Basic computer skills are a prerequisite. Computers available on site but feel free to bring your laptop.
STEAM at Pensacola Library – Virtual Reality – All ages
Join us to explore the technology and tools of the STEAM Lab. On May 17, come explore virtual reality, using Google Cardboard and the Oculus Rift.
Family STEAM Night – Operation: S.T.E.A.M. – Building Stuff
Who will win the night’s coveted title of “Tallest Tower Builder?" What about “Strongest Tower Builder?" Oh, and did we mention that we will be using only paper? Come find out just how much you can do with stuff that you probably use every day.
Beach Bags for Summer
Children and teens are invited to create a special canvas bag for the summer. We will decorate our bags using stamps, permanent markers and beads. All materials will be provided.

Save Yourself Digitization Day at the Molino Branch Library
West Florida Public Libraries wants to help you get your important documents and photos digitized. Join us at the Molino Branch Library on Saturday, May 19 and receive a half-hour session with a specialist who will scan and save your items to a flash drive. Bring your documents and the library will provide the technology and the flash drives. Call Molino Branch Library at 850-435-1761 to reserve a time. Drop-ins are welcome on a first come, first served basis.
