Work activities are scheduled to begin Wednesday, June 12 on U.S. 29 within the Cantonment area. The $8.7 million transportation project will include resurfacing the roadway from south of Muscogee Road (County Road 184) to Atmore Highway (State Road 97), turn lane construction, access management modifications, signalization, pedestrian feature upgrades, guardrail, new signage, and pavement markings.

Escambia County’s Mosquito Control department has noted an increased number of yellow flies in the field and calls from residents. Common yellow fly species include horse flies and deer flies, which are more active from late May to early July. They frequent wet, shaded areas on the edges of forests, rivers and creeks and tend to avoid open, sunny areas.
