An inmate from the Escambia County Jail escaped this morning, Saturday, Aug. 24 at approximately 4:54 a.m. Michael Anthony Perkins, a 31-year-old white male with a Milton home address, escaped while loading a food truck. Deputies and K-9 teams from Escambia County Corrections and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office are searching the area.

The 297A bridge over Eleven Mile Creek will experience reduced speeds beginning this evening, Aug. 19 until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 while crews make repairs along the southbound lane of the bridge. Repair crews will be staged behind the guardrail on the west side of 297A while making repairs beneath the bridge approach and to the west concrete ditch.
