A new traffic signal at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Olive Road will be operational Thursday, Aug. 1 at approximately 10 a.m. The new signal was placed in flash mode on the morning of Wednesday, July 24 to acquaint motorists with the location. Drivers are advised to use caution when approaching the newly signalized intersection.

In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions Wednesday, July 24 in Commission District 5. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 14 tons (28,180 pounds) of debris during the Cantonment Neighborhood Cleanup in July, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
