Escambia County is seeking public input on the county's current tree protection standards. An online public survey is now available and residents may submit comments regarding tree protection standards until Friday, June 28. Once the survey period has ended, the Escambia County Planning Board will host a workshop to discuss comments submitted through the survey and determine if revisions to the current tree protection standards are necessary.

The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County has issued a rabies alert for the Bayou Chico area of Escambia County, Florida. The alert is in response to a report of a positive test result for rabies in a cat on May 25, which follows a positive test on a raccoon found in the same area in January.

Escambia County Fire Rescue firefighters and Escambia County EMS crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 3000 block of Miller Street Friday, May 24. ECFR and EMS crews arrived on scene and firefighters quickly located and removed an adult male resident from the blazing, single-wide mobile home fire. Crew members performed CPR and the victim regained circulation before being transported to Baptist Hospital.
