Escambia County will auction the iconic Pensacola Beach Sailfish sign during a live public auction Tuesday, Oct. 22. The auction includes two sailfish signs, starburst sign and the arrow sign. Live bidding will commence Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. in the Pensacola Beach Sheriff's substation parking lot, located at 43 Fort Pickens Road, Pensacola Beach.

Escambia County has been placed under a Tropical Storm Warning for Potential Tropical Cyclone 16, and county officials are encouraging residents to closely monitor weather conditions over the next 36 hours. The latest forecast shows the storm tracking east of the area, with possible tropical storm-force winds arriving Friday evening into Saturday morning.

Through this annual challenge, food pantries from Pensacola to Monticello will receive thousands of jars of donated peanut butter this December

Pensacola Beach Lifeguards will shift to winter staffing levels Monday, Oct.14, and this week the lifeguard towers will be taken off the beach until the 2020 lifeguard season. Lifeguards will maintain a presence on Pensacola Beach throughout the winter primarily via patrol vehicles, but they will have a presence at the Casino Beach location only after Oct. 14.

Last week Escambia County Marine Resources Division managed the deployment of 13.5 concrete sections of the Pensacola Bay Bridge to form an artificial reef in the Escambia South-East Artificial Reef Site. The reef materials were deployed by Skanska USA Civil Southeast, approximately 7.6 miles from Pensacola Pass.
