Drivers on the existing Pensacola Bay Bridge are reminded to keep their eyes on the road and to maintain a safe speed as construction crews install the 800,000-pound steel arch atop the new eastbound Pensacola Bay Bridge Thursday, June 27. The navigational channel beneath the bridge will be closed to marine traffic and the U.S. Coast Guard will patrol the area to maintain a safety buffer.

The Escambia County Water Quality and Land Management Division will install temporary floating wetlands in a county-maintained stormwater pond on Lanier Drive, south of Creighton Road. Installation of the floating wetland islands will begin Tuesday, June 25 and is expected to be completed in approximately two weeks.

Escambia County Fire Rescue firefighters and Escambia County EMS crews responded to a large commercial structure fire in the 17000 block of Perdido Key Drive Wednesday, June 19. The first units arrived on scene to find a working fire spanning multiple condos and spreading quickly due to wind and close proximity of the units to one another.
