Escambia County has opened two new Pensacola Beach parking lot expansion projects, one located at the old Visitor Information Center near the Sandshaker and the other at Casino Beach west of the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier. The combined projects add 112 new car and 14 new motorcycle parking spots.

Pensacola Beach Lifeguards will return to their towers Friday, March 1 for the 2019 lifeguard season. Initially, one to three towers at Casino Beach will be manned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, shifting to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Sunday, March 10. As summer approaches, staffing will increase to provide coverage at up to 10 towers, including the towers at Gulf Islands National Seashore, which are staffed starting Memorial Day weekend.

Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 50 tons (101,560 pounds) of debris during the Ensley North and Ensley South Neighborhood Cleanups in January and February, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The events allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
