  • FDOT Temporary Closure of Nine Mile Road Ramp to Interstate 10 Eastbound

    The Nine Mile Road eastbound ramp to Interstate 10 (I-10) eastbound will be restricted to one access ramp location beginning the week of March 25. The western access ramp will be closed and drivers will enter to I-10 eastbound via the second, eastern most on-ramp at this location. The temporary closure is expected to be in place for several weeks as crews complete ramp reconstruction work.

    The prescribed burn of approximately 65 acres in the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21 in the area north of Jones Creek between Gulf Beach Highway, south of Highway 98 and west of Fairfield Drive has been canceled.

  • NRDA Florida Trustees Approves Final Restoration Plan 1

    The Florida Trustee Implementation Group approved its Final Restoration Plan 1, which selects 23 projects at a total estimated cost of $61 million. The final plan is consistent with the Trustees’ Programmatic Restoration Plan and selects projects for restoring natural resources and services injured or lost in Florida as a result of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. With the approval of this plan, 10 projects totaling more than $16 million will benefit water quality and recreation in Pensacola Bay and Perdido Bay.

    Escambia County’s Natural Resources Conservation Division is preparing for a prescribed burn and ecosystem management of approximately 65 acres in the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve. The burn is anticipated to take place between Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21 in the area north of Jones Creek between Gulf Beach Highway, U.S. south of Highway 98 and west of Fairfield Drive.

  • Brentwood Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 42 Tons of Debris

    Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 42 tons (85,100 pounds) of debris during the March 13 Brentwood Neighborhood Cleanup, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
