    The Escambia County Waste Services Department will host the next Regional Roundup on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. until noon at Escambia High School, 1310 N. 65th Ave. Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.

  • FDOT: New Traffic Signal on Mobile Highway at Beulah Road

    A new traffic signal on U.S. 90 (Mobile Highway) at Beulah Road (County Road 99) in Escambia County will become operational Tuesday, Feb. 12 at approximately 10 a.m. The new signal is mounted on horizontal mast arms.

    Olive Road will experience short-term lane closures beginning Monday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. A portion of Olive Road just west of Ninth Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured along Olive Road to Hendrix Avenue, around the south intersection of Collingswood and Hendrix Avenue, back to Ninth Avenue.

  • FDOT: Hanks Road Bridge Replacement Project to Begin

    Work activities will begin the week of Monday, Feb. 4 to replace the bridge on Hanks Road over Breastworks Creek in Escambia County. The $1.5 million bridge replacement project also includes new guardrail, drainage improvements, milling and resurfacing, and new signs and pavement markings.

    With low temperatures in Escambia County expected to drop below freezing Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, residents are encouraged to practice cold weather safety. According to the National Weather Service of Mobile, wind chill values tonight are forecast as low as 25 degrees for the Pensacola area, with a north wind of 5-15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph.
