Escambia County COVID-19 Update #12

Please reference Escambia County COVID-19 Update #11 for the prior running list. This update only includes new information we have received. Weekend updates will be distributed when there is new information.

Escambia County 

  • The Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller

    The MC Blanchard and Theodore Bruno Juvenile Justice Building will remain open, at this time, but will have limited public access. The Clerk’s office will continue to process emergency court services:

    • Petitions for Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Repeat Violence, Sexual Violence or Stalking Injunctions
    • Baker Act petitions
    • Marchman Act petitions
    • Vulnerable Adult petitions
    • Adult Protective Services petitions
    • Emergency guardianship appointment
    • Family Law and Dependency cases in which the imminent safety of children is at issue

    The following Clerk’s offices will be closed effective Mon. March 23 until at least March 30:

    • Traffic Office, MC Blanchard Judicial Building, 190 W. Government St.
    • Marriage Office, MC Blanchard Judicial Building, 190 W. Government St.
    • Clerk’s Official Records, Finance and Clerk to the Board Offices located at 221 Palafox Place
    • Century Courthouse office
    • The Public Records Center, 120 E. Blount St.

    The following services will be suspended until at least March 30:

    • Marriage licenses
    • Passports
  • The Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) will move bus routes to a modified schedule starting on Monday, March 23, 2020 and limit capacity to 10 passengers. (please see news release for detailed information)

    Escambia County Community Transportation (ECCT) will temporarily suspend all paratransit services after 7 p.m. for weekday and Saturday services.  All medical necessary trips will be honored. Sunday service is temporarily suspended. All expired eligibility will be extended for 90 days. In-person eligibility interviews will be rescheduled or completed over the phone. Please call ECCT Customer Service at (850) 595-0501 if you need assistance. 

    We expect these changes to stay in place through April 14, 2020, at which time we will re-evaluate, modify or update our plans. 

  • The Parks and Recreation Department and Road Department building located at 1651 E. Nine Mile Road will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 23. The call center will be answered as normal during regular business hours.

  • The new all-electronic tolling system on Bob Sikes Bridge to Pensacola Beach went live on March 20, 2020, which was earlier than anticipated to adhere to social distancing for toll booth workers. The toll will remain $1, and cash and coins will no longer be accepted at this location. 

 Pensacola State College
  • The Governor has closed the college campuses to the general public through the spring semester. For our college, this includes the theatre, pool, gymnasium, art gallery, library, fitness center, testing center and planetarium. Our situation is fluid and continues to change daily; therefore, on Monday, March 23, only employees directed by their supervisors will report to campus and all other employees will work remotely as assigned.
