Escambia County COVID-19 Update #137

Escambia County

  • Hospital Information totals as of 9 a.m. July 6, 2020 (county SITREP)
    • Hospitalizations 111 (running total; this is not a total of current hospitalizations)

  • Testing Site Information
  • Dr. Lanza, Director of the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County, will provide a COVID-19 update at the next board meeting on Thursday, July 16 at 9 a.m.
  • Through contact tracing more inmates have tested positive at the Escambia County Jail. Out of the 44 inmates tested, 38 have tested positive, four have tested negative and two are awaiting results. All of the inmates who have tested positive are not presenting medical concerns. Two of the units in the jail have been turned into isolation zones to house the inmates who have tested positive to try to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Read the full release here
  • Join District 1 Commissioner Jeff Bergosh at his virtual 48th Coffee with the Commissioner event Wednesday, July 8. The live stream will take place from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. Guests will include Escambia County Administrator Janice Gilley, Escambia Emergency Manager Eric Gilmore, and Escambia County Supervisor of Elections David Stafford. The discussion will focus on the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic locally on the county and particularly the impacts on the scheduled elections coming up in August and November. Escambia River Electric Cooperative

  • Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in our local area, the EREC lobby in Jay is closed to the public effective Monday, July 6, until further notice. The drive-through will remain open.
  • We encourage our members to utilize remote options for electric service. Payments may be made by mail, online at www.erec.com, telephone autopay, EREC app or by night depository. Services such as opening or closing an electric, water or internet account; making changes to your services; inquiring about your account balance, service orders, etc. can all be handled by email or phone as well. Community Health Northwest Florida

  • Drive-through/Walk-up testing on Friday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at Pensacola State College Century Center, located at 440 East Hecker Road, Century. Testing will take place in the parking lot of Head Start. No pre-screening required, open to Escambia County residents of all ages. Bring photo ID and insurance card (if insured). Testing until supplies last, weather permitting.

Florida Department of Health in Escambia County

  • FDOH-Escambia’s walk-in testing site is free to all Florida residents with or without symptoms. Pre-screening is not required. Open July 6-10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT at 1300 West Gregory St., Pensacola, FL 32502. Dates are subject to change due to inclement weather or shortage of supplies.   • The Florida Department of Health (the Department) issued a Public Health Advisory recommending the following: all individuals in Florida should wear face coverings in any setting where social distancing is not possible, all individuals over the age of 65 and all individuals of any age with high-risk health conditions should limit personal interactions out of the home, and all individuals should refrain from participation in social or recreational gatherings of more than 50 people.
  • As of 2 p.m., July 6, Escambia County has had 2,942 positive COVID-19 cases. This number is expected to change daily due to the return of results from ongoing testing. The best source for up-to-date information regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida is the Florida Department of Health website and the associated Data and Surveillance Dashboard and Daily Report. The site is currently updated once daily, at around 3 p.m. ET.
  • The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Escambia County residents is 47 individuals.
  • The Department releases a list of long-term care facilities in Florida associated with COVID-19 cases with active cases and number of deaths in each facility in order to provide real-time data. The list of long-term care facilities with active COVID-19 cases is available here.
  • The Department is providing a report detailing surveillance data for every Florida county. Previously, this information was only available for select communities. The surveillance data report is available here
  • To view demographics of cases in Escambia County, visit the COVID-19 dashboard and select Escambia County. The following case data will appear: age, gender, race, and ethnicity.
