The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare has received reports of fraudulent text and social media messages from persons claiming to represent Animal Welfare staff. These messages are being targeted to citizens with lost pets, claiming their pet has been brought to the shelter and asking for a Google verification code to retrieve the pet. These messages are not legitimate and are not associated with Escambia County and the Department of Animal Welfare.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold two meetings Tuesday, July 9. The first budget workshop begins at 9 a.m. and the regular commission meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Both meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

Bronson Road between Reunion Place and U.S. Highway 98 will experience road closures and detours beginning Tuesday, July 9, at 7 a.m. All traffic will be detoured along Juan Road and Reunion Place during the closure. The detour is expected to remain in effect for approximately 11 days.
