Escambia County Seeking Perdido Key Beach Usage Information

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking information regarding the public's personal experiences of the use and enjoyment of Perdido Key beaches. Escambia County has created an online form for the public to submit this information, which is now available here or by visiting MyEscambia.com/perdidokeybeaches.

Escambia County encourages beachgoers and beach-front landowners alike to share their experiences. Information provided will assist with determining if there may be sufficient substantial and competent testimony available for the BCC to consider an ordinance related to Customary Use per Florida Statutes Chapter 163.035.  

The deadline to submit materials is Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

Relevant information and materials documenting use and activities occurring on the beaches of Perdido Key may be provided by submitting the following documentation:  
  • Sworn affidavit
    • The affidavit must include the declaration, “Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have read the foregoing [document] and that the facts stated in it are true.”
    • The affidavit must be notarized
  • Photographs
  • Videos
  • Documents (maps, plats, deeds, surveys)
Any documentation submitted should include information about personal experience on the beaches of Perdido Key, including: 
  • The type of use and/or activity
  • The specific location of the use and/or activity
  • The date of the use and/or activity
  • The frequency of the use and/or activity
  • Names of any individuals involved in the use and/or activity
  • Whether the use and/or activity was restricted and if so, how and when the use/activity was restricted
  • Whether there was any attempt to restrict the use and/or activity and if so, the circumstances surrounding the attempted restriction  

Please note: Multiple form submissions with duplicative information will not assist in this research. Legal conclusions and arguments should not be submitted.
