The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is excited to partner with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for the "Empty the Shelters" adoption event, starting Saturday, April 27 until Wednesday, May 15. During this time, adoptions for all cats and dogs 1 year or older will be free. Puppies will be available for $50 and kittens will be available for $25. An $11 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents.

Escambia County Waste Services is making changes to the free re-blended paint program schedule, which will allow the county to provide a better variety of paint colors to the public at no charge. Beginning Thursday, May 2, Waste Services will offer free re-blended paint on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Perdido Landfill, 13009 Beulah Road.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has received the subgrant application for Escambia County McElhaney Road culvert repairs due to damages in Hurricane Sally (DR-4564-FL PW 00525). Pursuant to Executive Order 11988 and 44 CFR Part 9.12, final notice is hereby given of FEMA’s intent to provide funding for this project under the Public Assistance (PA) Program.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Lyndsey Stevens as Purchasing Director. The promotion was included as a recommendation to the board at the April 22 BCC meeting. Her duties as Purchasing Director include overseeing the county’s procurement program, developing purchasing policies and procedures, and implementing a long-term strategy for efficient purchasing programs.

Public forum begins at 8:30 a.m. and the regular meeting begins at 9 a.m. Both meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.
