The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold its regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 5. Agenda review begins at 9 a.m., public forum begins at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

Escambia County encourages residents to join in observing Florida Preparedness Month during September. Florida Preparedness Month is observed each year by the state of Florida and the Florida Division of Emergency Management in conjunction with FEMA National Preparedness Month to increase awareness of the historical peak of Atlantic Hurricane season.

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare will offer free adoptions for all dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from Friday, Aug. 30 until Saturday, Sept. 7. An $11 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents.

In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division will conduct fogging missions Wednesday, Aug. 28, in commission district 2. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m. All operations are dependent on weather conditions.
