Escambia County will launch the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program Wednesday, July 20. The program is designed to provide assistance to homeowners struggling to pay mortgages or utilities due to COVID-19. Funded under the Community Development Block Grant Corona Virus Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program, eligible households may receive assistance of up to but not exceeding three (3) months' costs, or $8,000.00.

On Saturday, July 9, a 50-foot recreational fishing vessel sunk offshore of Pensacola, Fla. Most recent reports have determined the vessel has shifted and is no longer in the last known location, which was: 30º17.642’N, 87º17.831’W. The wreck’s location is unknown at this time and poses a significant risk to the maritime community and the boating public. Please exercise extreme caution when transiting this area. If you discover the sunken vessel, call the U.S. Coast Guard immediately at 251-441-5976 to report the location.
