ECFR Participates in 2023 CEO Soak

Published Aug 2, 2023

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, Escambia County Fire Rescue, along with several local organizations, gathered at the Gulfside Pavilion in Pensacola Beach to participate in the 2023 CEO Soak in an effort to raise funds for the ALS Association Florida Chapter.

Inspired by the Ice Bucket Challenge, the CEO Soak is a gathering of local CEOs, managers and community leaders who line up to get sprayed with water by ECFR firefighters. Throughout the fundraising event, over $20,000 was raised towards research to find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

"Escambia County Fire Rescue was happy to partner with the Florida Chapter of the ALS Foundation and support a great cause like the CEO Soak," said Deputy Fire Chief Paul Williams. "We look forward to our continued partnership and support of this event."

Escambia County Fire Rescue proudly operates as a combination fire service, utilizing the talents and diversities of volunteer and career firefighting personnel. Career personnel operate in 15 stations throughout the county. 13 stations work a 48/96-hour shift, and two stations work Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteer firefighters operate out of numerous stations throughout Escambia County. Escambia County Fire Rescue also provides other emergency services such as hazardous materials response, special operations and ALS non-transport. Learn more about how to join Escambia County Fire Rescue. Follow Escambia County Fire Rescue on Facebook.
