A special meeting will take place at 5:20 p.m and a first budget public hearing will take place at 5:31 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

  • Notice of Intent to Perform Mosquito Fogging Operations on Aug. 31

    In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Commission Districts 1, 2 and 5. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m. All operations are dependent on weather conditions.

  • Escambia County Animal Welfare Offering $10 "Back to School" Adoptions

    With school back in session and kids out of the house, it’s the perfect time to bring home a new furry friend. From Aug. 26 until Sept. 3, all animals at the Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare will have a reduced adoption fee of $10. Adoption fees include spay or neutering services, microchips, heartworm tests and the initial vaccinations including rabies vaccinations.

  • Traffic Light at Olive Road and Davis Highway Successfully Rebuilt

    Following construction work that took place Sunday, Aug. 21, the traffic light at the intersection of Olive Road and Davis Highway has been fully rebuilt. Work began on time at 7 a.m. and, by 8 a.m., all signal heads were removed with no overhead items remaining. Crews were able to install signals by 3 p.m. and demonstrate successful operations by 3:30 p.m.

  • Work to Begin on Former Omni-Vest Landfill Aug. 29

    The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will soon begin remediation of the former Omni-Vest Landfill, located at 4094 Idlewood Drive. The project will begin Aug. 29, 2022, with work taking place Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Work is expected to be completed by January 2023.
