Escambia County, in partnership with the Florida Department of Health-Escambia (FDOH), announced a new monoclonal antibody site will open Wednesday, March 9, at the Marie K. Young-Wedgewood Community Center, located at 6405 Wagner Rd. The monoclonal antibody site will be open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The site will be closed on Sundays.

As COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decline, Escambia County will discontinue the COVID-19 dashboard featuring daily hospitalization updates and weekly death totals effective Saturday, March 5. The last day Escambia County will track local hospitalizations and death totals will be Friday, March 4.

Escambia County will host a grand opening ceremony for the new Public Beach Access #4 at 16470 Perdido Key Drive on March 4, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. The new beach access will be open sunrise to sunset and features a permeable concrete parking lot with 35 parking spots, an ADA-compliant AccessMat dune walkover and educational signage about protected wildlife. The site will add an additional 300 feet of public beach access on the western side of Perdido Key, adjacent to the Crab Trap restaurant.

Pensacola Beach Lifeguards will return to their towers on Tuesday, March 1, for the 2022 lifeguard season. Initially, one to three towers at Casino Beach will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, shifting from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Sunday, March 13. As summer approaches, staffing will increase to provide coverage at up to 10 towers, including the towers at Gulf Islands National Seashore, which begin staffing Memorial Day weekend.

Escambia County has applied for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program funding through the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) as a sub-recipient. Funding benefits work at the Beulah Landfill.
