Escambia County District 1 Commissioner Jeff Bergosh and Engineering staff will hold a ribbon cutting for the new Longleaf Drive Bridge on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 8 a.m. Due to safety regulations, this event is not open to the public. Seating capacity and parking availability are limited.

Additional details: The Longleaf Drive Bridge is one of two components of the Longleaf West Phase Roadway and Bridge Project. The second component focuses on roadway drainage improvements, paving and sidewalk construction. The project's goal is to increase safety for all people driving, walking or biking along the neighborhood collector street. The bridge is expected to be opened by the start of the new school year, while the overall project is projected to be completed by summer 2024.
The Longleaf Bridge is made up of 25 precast pieces weighing between 10 and 28 tons. Panhandle Grading and Paving Inc. is the general contractor on the project, while McKinnis Construction, LLC is the subcontractor that installed the bridge.
