To encourage adoptions during the holidays, the Escambia County Animal Welfare and Adoption Center is running a December adoption special. Until Dec. 31, all cats and kittens are $10 and dogs and puppies are $25.

ECAT (Escambia County Area Transit) would like to remind patrons that face masks are required aboard all buses and in indoor bus terminals and other transportation hubs. On Dec. 2, President Biden announced that masks will continue to be required aboard public transit systems until March 18, 2022,

The VAB provides for the hearing of all petitions, complaints, appeals and disputes concerning taxable assessment of properties.

At the Dec. 2 Escambia County Board of County Commissioners Meeting, the board voted to pass the proposed redistricting map. Commissioners are required to review district boundary lines every 10 years following the latest census data. The proposed redistricting lines follow data collected from the 2020 Census.

Beginning Dec. 7, 2021 at 7 a.m., Polk Avenue between Lamar Street and Cairo Street will be closed to through traffic. During this time, the roadway will be cut open to allow for installation of four gravity sewer services to lots where homes are being constructed.

Beginning Dec. 7, 2021 at 8 a.m., Bridlewood Road between Fort Deposit Road and Nine Mile Road will be closed to through traffic. Closures are necessary to allow for construction to take place. Construction will consist of one water main tap and three open-cut utility crossings.
