  • Animal Welfare Deploys for Hurricane Idalia Recovery

    Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare's Disaster Response Team and members of the ASPCA deployed Saturday, Sept. 2, to Taylor County, Fla., to assist with Hurricane Idalia recovery. While there, they will work alongside the Taylor County animal shelter and disaster response teams to assist animals and pet owners impacted by Hurricane Idalia.

  • ECAT UWF Trolley Service Notice for Friday, Sept. 1

    Due to the first University of West Florida football game Friday, Sept. 1, Escambia County Area Transit will end service for the UWF campus trollies at 3 p.m. and service for the express trolley at 2:50 p.m. Regular service will resume Saturday, Sept. 2.

  • Reminder: Perdido Landfill to Close Sept. 2-4

    The Perdido Landfill, located at 13009 Beulah Road in Cantonment, will close Saturday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 4 while crews install the landfill's new scale house building. The landfill will re-open for regular hours Tuesday, Sept. 5.

    Join us in keeping our neighborhoods clean and safe! A neighborhood cleanup for residents in Barrancas will take place Friday, Sept. 1. This is a chance for residents to dispose of items such as old furniture, appliances and household waste free of charge. Yard debris is eligible for removal during this cleanup.

  • Escambia County Fire Rescue Deploys for Hurricane Idalia

    Members of the Escambia County Fire Rescue Light Technical Rescue Team deployed Wednesday, Aug. 30, to Madison, Fla. to assist with rescue efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia. ECFR's crew will spend up to 14 days working in the disaster-affected area performing search and rescue operations.

  • SR-399 on Pensacola Beach Reopens, Fort Pickens Road Remains Closed

  • Notice of Intent to Perform Mosquito Fogging Operations on Aug. 30

    In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions Wednesday, Aug. 30, in commission district 1. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m. All operations are dependent on weather conditions.

  • Reminder: District 4 Commissioner Bender to Host Town Hall Aug. 31

    District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender will host a town hall Thursday, Aug. 31, at 5:30 p.m. at the Courts of Praise Fellowship Church, 2260 East Johnson Ave. The purpose of this town hall is to allow the developer of the proposed Pebble Crossing apartment complex on Governor's Drive an opportunity to answer residents' questions.

  • Brentwood Park Closed for Construction Starting Aug. 31

    Brentwood Park, 4905 N. Palafox St. in District 3, will close starting Thursday, Aug. 31, while the Escambia County Facilities Management Department begins construction work on the park. A notice will be sent out once the park reopens.

  • ECFR Urges Caution When Using Lithium-Ion Batteries

    Escambia County Fire Rescue recently responded to garage fires on Aug. 18 and 19 that were the result of lithium-ion batteries overheating. In both instances, battery-operated push mowers in the garages caught fire. Fortunately, both were detected early and resulted in damage contained to the garage. ECFR urges the public to use caution when utilizing or storing lithium-ion batteries.

This is an open forum event and residents of District 5 are invited and encouraged to attend. County staff will be in attendance to address any additional questions or concerns from residents.

  • Escambia County to Host Volunteer Workdays at Perdido Key Garden

    Escambia County will host three volunteer workdays at the Perdido Key Coastal Demonstration Garden at 15500 Perdido Key Dr. The workdays will take place Sept. 15, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Workdays are open to the public and are great opportunities to become familiar with native species and gardening techniques, including how to care for and maintain coastal species.
