    The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare will offer free adoptions for all dogs, cats, puppies and kittens Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8. An $11 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents.

    Escambia County Sea Turtle Patrol volunteers recorded Perdido Key’s first sea turtle nest of the season early this morning, May 31. After an earlier false crawl in Perdido Key, staff and volunteers are thrilled to finally receive a nest. June and July are the busiest nesting months in Escambia County, so more nests are expected in the coming weeks.
