Escambia County is continuing to monitor a trough of low pressure over the north-central Gulf that is producing a broad area of disorganized rain showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Hurricane Center. Escambia County should expect increased rain chances and increased surf and rip currents along coastal areas Thursday, July 24, and Friday, July 25.
Chances of this system developing into a named storm remain low, with a 10% chance of development over the next 48 hours. According to Escambia County Meteorologist Scottlin Wilson, the system is expected to move inland by this weekend, which will end the system’s formation chances.
While this system is not expected to become a named storm, residents are reminded to remain weather aware.
